Fletcher Building Australia underscored its dedication to fostering gender equality in the construction industry at the recent 2024 Awesome Women in Construction (AWIC) Awards, with Oliveri proudly taking centre stage as a founding supporter and sponsor of the event.
Held annually, the AWIC awards provide a valuable platform to recognise the achievements of women and the allies who champion their success. This year, the awards took place on Friday, 4 October, in South Brisbane.
The evening began with a moving Welcome to Country by Songwoman Maroochy Barambah, a respected Turrbal Elder. Her presence and words honoured the importance of Indigenous representation and connection to Country, resonating with the business’ ongoing commitment to recognise and support the diverse cultural roots that strengthen their industry.
A highlight of the evening for Fletcher Building Australia with the recognition of Oliveri Sales Executive Janelle Willey, who was nominated in the prestigious Sales Extraordinaire category. Reaching the final three was a testament to her expectional talent and dedication.
“Being recognised among such talented women is an incredible honour and reflects the supportive environment we strive for at Oliveri,” Janelle said.
Oliveri’s involvement extended beyond nominations, as the company also sponsored and presented the Male Advocate of Change award.
Commercial Sales Manager Jason Benseman from Oliveri had the honour of presenting this award, which recognises men who actively promote gender equity and inclusivity in the construction sector. This year’s recipient, Mark Fletcher, was celebrated for his significant efforts in creating a supportive and inclusive work environment.
Through Oliveri’s ongoing support as a founding sponsor, Fletcher Building Australia reinforced its commitment to celebrating the achievements of women and the allies who advocate for their success.
“The AWIC awards night was not just about individual accomplishments – it celebrated the collective progress we’re making toward a more inclusive and diverse construction industry,” said FB Australia Learning and Organisational Developemnt Manager – Australia Rite Slogrove.
“We’re proud to support AWIC’s mission, recognising the incredible contributions of women, and reinforce our commitment to gender equity.”
