PANEL SPEAKER

Karen Johnson

WHSE Compliance Coordinator, Austral Masonry Ayr

Karen Johnson has been with Brickworks now for 16 years under Austral Masonry, starting in administration then moving to production assistant.

With the Masonry business growing to meet supply demands, she was given the opportunity to implement the company’s WHS management system within the site and quarry operations. Karen then added WHS supervisor to her role. During this time, she gained valuable insight into all manufacturing and quarry operations. It has been a long hard journey for her starting from administration and moving slowing through the organisation to become plant manager after 15 years.

You might ask why she has stuck around for so long? It’s because of the company and she loves her job. Every day is different, and her passion is safety in the workplace.
