How long have you been in the industry and what drew you to a career in construction?

Construct Law Group is a boutique law firm specialising in all things building and construction law. We were founded by our Director, Aleisha MacKenzie, in 2014 and have quickly developed into a prominent law firm in the construction sector.
Our team is full of AWESOME women (and men) who are passionate about the building industry and assisting those involved in the industry – from homeowners all the way to builders and developers – in every way we can. From contract drafting to litigation and dispute resolution, our clients know that they can rely on us to service their needs and provide them with high-quality legal advice.
What can we expect to see from your business in 2023?
We are motivated and ready to continue to provide accurate, professional and reliable legal services to the construction industry and its consumers in 2023.
As the industry is still addressing the flow on effects of the pandemic, we anticipate our clients will continue to require advice on how to navigate the ongoing delays and material shortages and this will be at the forefront of our practice in 2023.
After hosting our legal conference at the start of this year, our legal team devised a strategy to optimise our clients’ experience and we are currently in the process of rolling this out. We are also looking forward to strengthening our ongoing relationships with key industry bodies and continuing to provide our support through sponsorship of various events.
This year, we will see the continued introduction of the new statutory trust requirements and various case law regarding application of relevant legislation. We’re looking forward to helping our clients understand their obligations under this new regime and how they can best implement systems within their business to ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.
In 2023, we’re also aiming to continue to expand our presence in the sector so you can look forward to seeing us at many industry events!
How long has the business been a member of AWIC, and what inspired you to join as a business?
As a business made up of predominantly women, we wanted to be a part of an organisation that is breaking barriers and recognising the awesome work women do in a male dominated industry.
Construct Law Group has been a member of AWIC since 15 October 2021, but our team has been attending their events for much longer.
We’ve always loved attending AWIC’s events and seeing how AWIC encourages women to take on an industry which traditionally favours men – becoming a member seemed like the logical next step in showing our support for such a worthy cause.
